Part 3 of 4: Join Multiple Hometalk Sites

Welcome back to our exclusive series on boosting your revenue with Hometalk!

In this post we will talk about the different Hometalk sites and all the ways you can get the most out of your qualifying content for each of them.

Whether you’re new to the Hometalk family of sites or a seasoned content creator, this four-part series is designed to help you reach the full potential of your Hometalk membership.Over the coming weeks, we’ll dive into ways to leverage Hometalk’s Blogger Traffic Programs, optimize your content, participate in multiple verticals, and even how to explore potential branded content opportunities with Hometalk. Think of this series as your roadmap to Hometalk success!

These posts are brought to you by Hometalk’s Senior Community Manager, Amanda, who will guide you through the logistics, rules, and important details of our creator programs. Plus, Hometalk’s favorite ambassador & blogging super-star KariAnne Wood will be sharing her expert advice, blogging tips, and personal insights from her own experiences on the Hometalk platform.

The Five Hometalk, Inc. Sites

Did you know that there are actually five sites within the Hometalk verticals? That means you have five opportunities to join a creator program and expand your reach to our ever-growing audiences.

You aren’t limited to only joining one of the five, so keep your options open to joining wherever you believe you may have content that works. Even if one of the sites is outside of your niche, you may surprise yourself with how much qualifying content you actually may already have on your blog.

This could be the difference between receiving one direct feature or one monthly payment for posting to one site and receiving two or more features or payments by qualifying on multiple sites each month.

KariAnne's Expert Insight

I’ve been a member of Hometalk for years—but I am also a member on all the other platforms. As each platform was introduced, I joined Foodtalk, Redesign, Simpilfy and Upstyle. Each one of those platforms has helped grow my brand and my business.
How?
Here’s what I love about joining all the platforms:
  • Community: I found a supportive community of people who like the same things I do!

  • Inspiration: When I’m stuck for ideas? I search the different platforms to find tons of inspiration and ideas for home improvement, cooking, and DIY projects.

  • Learning: Each of these platforms has opportunities to learn from others and ask questions

  • Sharing: Share your own projects and recipes and introduce yourself to new readers

Hometalk

Hometalk is our original site focused on home and garden DIY tutorials. By sharing a written, step-by-step DIY tutorial creators have the opportunity to reach more than 2 million daily email subscribers and get new eyes on their content.

In case you missed it, we covered the ins and outs of joining the Blogger Traffic Program in the first segment of this blog series. You can read all about how the program works and why bloggers love being a part of it here.

Don’t have a blog? No problem! Hometalk also offers a Creator Rewards Program, allowing creators without blogs to benefit. Members of this program can earn monthly payments by submitting just two qualifying DIY tutorials each month. Learn more about the Creator Rewards Program here.

Even if you don’t share DIY tutorials regularly, Hometalk is an excellent platform for creators to showcase their work. Each post you contribute adds to a growing library of content, and over time, those contributions can lead to features and greater exposure. Whether you’re a frequent DIYer or only dabble occasionally, sharing your projects on Hometalk is a smart way to maximize your reach and grow your presence in the DIY community.

KariAnne's Expert Insight
I joined Hometalk in 2012 and it’s truly been amazing. I met Hometalk at a conference and I shared my frist project (a DIY topiary) about four months into blogging. It sent so much traffic to my blog that I started telling others about Hometalk and I’ve never stopped.
I’m also a Hometalk user. In addition to posting content, I search Hometalk for other ideas and inspiration for trends and inspiration to create my own projects.
And of course—can we discuss the pageviews? Every time I get an email from Hometalk saying they are going to feature my post—I know traffic is headed my way. I think Hometalk is a platform everyone should be using to grow their business—especially with all the challenges with Google updates this year. It’s kind of like insurance against the traffic ups and downs.

Check out KariAnne's very first Hometalk post from 2012!

Foodtalk

Foodtalk is our dedicated platform for sharing recipes. It’s the perfect space for foodies or the one-off baker to share their favorite dishes and reach a wider audience.

Because we send daily emails across all our sites, Foodtalk recipes don’t need a direct feature to make an impact. Standout recipes are often highlighted in our emails, driving engagement and visibility for your Foodtalk posts. This can lead to traffic flowing to your blog or social media pages—even on days when your content isn’t being directly featured.

Currently, membership to the Blogger Traffic Program is closed as we work to continue to meet traffic expectations and keep up with the growing demand from our current members. However, there’s an interest list available if you’d like to be notified as soon as new opportunities open. If you’re interested, you can join the waitlist here

In the meantime, we encourage creators to join the Foodtalk Creator Rewards Program, where membership is still open. In exchange for posting 3 "Quality Score 2"  recipes on Foodtalk in one calendar month, we offer a monthly gift card valued at $50 and your content can be highlighted in our newsletter and Instagram! If you’re interested, feel free to reach out to the Hometalk team for more details on how to join!

Even if cooking isn’t your primary niche, Foodtalk is a great place to share the occasional recipe. Many members who aren’t full-time food bloggers upload one-off recipes to their Foodtalk profiles. Over time, these contributions can add up in the Blogger Traffic Program, potentially earning a feature and gaining exposure for your content.

KariAnne's Expert Insight
If you share recipes, this is such an amazing opportunity to showcase your posts. I don’t have a lot of recipes on the blog, but when I create a recipe, I share it to Foodtalk so it gets more traction. I’ve also found that Foodtalk is a great place to introduce your content to new readers.
Every time I get a feature, I get tons of email subscribers and new visitors to my blog. They come for the recipes and then stay for the projects and room makeovers and the DIY’s.

Upstyle

If fashion, style, and DIY beauty recipes are your jam, then Upstyle is the perfect place for you! This site is all about sharing fashion tips, styling tricks, and creative DIY beauty ideas—and the best part? You can include your affiliate links to help readers shop your favorite looks.

Upstyle is also a great fit for creators who share DIY beauty recipes or tutorials for making clothing and accessories.

Like Hometalk and Foodtalk, Upstyle offers the same fantastic programs for creators like the Blogger Traffic Program or Creator Rewards Program. But, there are a few extras specifically for the fashion and beauty niche. Whether you’re a blogger, a YouTuber, or a TikToker, there’s a program designed just for you.

If you’re a busy blogger, the Blogger Traffic Program on Upstyle is a dream come true. You can earn direct features to your blog without lifting a finger to post. Each month, the Upstyle team will select qualifying content from your blog, let you know what they plan to share, and handle the posting process for you. This way, you can focus on creating amazing content while we take care of the rest.

For creators on YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram Reels, Upstyle has you covered too! Our team will take your videos, transcribe the content, and create posts embedded with your original videos. This means all the views go directly back to your channel, helping you grow your audience and increase your engagement—all with zero extra effort on your part.

KariAnne's Expert Insight
Even if you aren’t a fashion blogger, there are so many DIY’s that work on Upstyle.
I’ve shared jewelry DIY’s, how-to-style posts and even how-to-wear an item of clothing. Also, the affiliate game is next level over on Upstyle. Fashion is one of the easiest ways to share affiliate content that truly converts.
If you don’t currently share a lot of fashion posts and you are looking for a new revenue stream? You might want to consider posting the occasional fashion post and then sharing it to Upstyle so it gets extra traction and you have another platform to share your affilate links.

Simplify & Redesign

Simplify and Redesign are the newest additions to our family of sites, each offering something unique for readers and creators alike.

Simplify is all about embracing a budget-friendly, frugal lifestyle. The site focuses on content that helps readers save money, make smarter financial decisions, simplify and declutter their homes, and explore alternative living options. From space-saving hacks to tips on living more sustainably, Simplify is perfect for creators who want to share practical, money-saving advice. It’s a great destination for anyone looking to live more simply, make the most of what they already have, and find inspiration to stretch their dollars further.

Redesign, on the other hand, is all about transforming living spaces into beautiful, functional environments. This site is dedicated to sharing design ideas, decorating tips, and clever tricks to inspire readers to elevate their homes. Whether it’s advice on choosing the right color palette, organizing small spaces, or creating cohesive aesthetics, Redesign is the go-to space for content that helps readers create a home they love.

Redesign profiles like this one from our editor, Shoshana, help readers create a home they love!

Unlike Hometalk, neither of these sites focus on DIY tutorials. Instead, Simplify and Redesign thrive on content that provides tips, advice, themed round-ups, and thoughtful articles. If you have home improvement tutorials to share, those are still a perfect fit for Hometalk.

Both Simplify and Redesign offer opportunities through the Blogger Traffic Program, making it easy for bloggers to share their expertise and reach new audiences. If you’re interested, reach out to our team to join the interest list and be notified when spots open up.

Additionally, both sites have open membership for the YouTube Programs, which are ideal for creators who produce YouTube videos aligned with the content themes of Simplify or Redesign. Our team can help you share your video content with a broader audience, driving engagement back to your channel while you continue doing what you love.

KariAnne's Expert Insight
I think the amazing thing about all these platforms is that there is a different audience with each platform that you can introduce your content to and Redesign and Simplify are great examples of this. Every time I get a feature on any of these platforms (as well as posting content on the platform itself—I’m meeting new audiences and reaching people that haven’t met Thistlewood Farms yet. It’s truly amazing.
I also think it’s important to remember that the audiences on each of these platforms are typically email subscribers. It’s a great way to grow your email list because they are more likely to subscribe to email. Just make sure you have a great opt-in and you are set.

Closing

We hope this post has introduced you to new Hometalk sites and opportunities that could help you grow your reach and revenue even further. With five unique platforms to choose from, there’s truly something

for everyone, and anyone can join and share their content. Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast, food lover, fashionista, or financial whiz, these sites are here to amplify your voice and connect you with engaged audiences.

That said, it’s important to focus on what works best for you. Don’t feel pressured to join every site or share content outside your comfort zone just for the sake of participating. Staying true to your passion and creating what you love ensures your content remains authentic and enjoyable. By doing so, you’ll not only protect your creative energy but also find the best ways to make the Hometalk sites work for your unique strengths and style.

Remember, success comes from being true to yourself and your content niche, and we’re here to help you along the way.

KariAnne's Expert Insight
I want to leave you with this—if you are a blogger in the home decor or DIY space? You NEED to check out all the platforms that the Hometalk family offers. This amazing platform connects you with a community, gives you a chance to share your incredible projects with a wider audience, and helps you drive traffic back to your own blog.
